Supported Platforms
Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) TM 2.0/3.0 and Peer Web Services (PWS)

General

The IIS 2.0 and 3.0 on Windows NT Server 4.0, and PWS (Peer Web Services) on Windows NT Workstation 4.0 work very well with heitml. All you need to do is to install heitml after installing the IIS/PWS. You might need to uninstall heitml if you did it in the wrong order. The heitml setup program will take care of everything else.

For the IIS we however recommend to use the ISAPI version of heitml. It uses another interface rather then the CGI interface and so is much faster than the CGI version of heitml.

IIS 2.0/3.0/PWS download and installation

IIS 2.0 is shipped with Windows NT Server 4.0, PWS with Windows NT Workstation 4.0. IIS 3.0 is shipped with Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 and later which can be downloaded from Microsoft's Web site. IIS 2.0/3.0 and PWS are installed through 'Control Panel/Network/Services'.

Restarting the Server

After Installation of heitml you need to restart the Web server using the MS Internet Service Manager. Perform the following steps:

  • Start the MS Internet Service Manager.
  • Open the server for which you want to restart the WWW service.
  • If the traffic light for WWW is green, click the right mouse button, choose 'Stop' and wait until the traffic light becomes red.
  • Now the traffic light for WWW should be red. Click the right mouse button and choose 'Start'. After a while the traffic light should become green.

In the Directory form field type in 'C:\customers\customer\wwwroot'. If you want to setup a virtual directory under your Web server, click the radio button 'Virtual Directory' and then type '/customer' in the Alias form field.
