heitml supports the SAP DB database system. SAP DB is a free Enterprise Open Source Database.

Installation

Download one of the generic versions which come with a precompiled heitml module, and which contain the SAP DB database driver in source code to work with any SAP DB version. You need to link in the SAP DB libraries. Follow the instructions in the README file.

Configuration

• heitmluser, heitmlpasswd must give the SAP DB user and password. It is recommended to use just one user (e.g. www), since whenever the username changes, heitml needs to disconnect and connect again, which is quite expensive.
  User and passwd must be given in capital letters!
• heitmldbname must give the database name. The database name must be given in capital letters.
• heitmldbhost if given, the name of the host where the database server is running, otherwise localhost

Specialties

heitml supports the long data type of SAP DB. You can show long text fields with the ? tag, as any other field. You can embed long text fields into updates by using the "Qh" format specification (e.g. <? test "Qh">).

Using this feature, you can maintain text databases. It is even possible to keep heitml-pages in the database using the heitml format specification.
