Editor-Triggered WYSIWYG Editing

Before you open a heitml page (a .hei file) with a WYSIWYG editor, you must have selected the kind of editor you are using to edit the page and RADpage must have stored the page in a file format that is suitable for editing with this kind of editor. You select the kind of editor you are using when creating a new page using the RADpage wizard or the import function, or when editing an existing page with RADpage.

To change the editing mode of an existing page click on

in RADpage, select the editing mode and press save. Note that you can and must select the editing mode on a per page basis. The following editing modes are available

  • Std Editor use this for text editors and HTML editors that understand or ignore heitml tags.
  • HTML Editor use this for any standard HTML editor, Netscape 6 Composer and Netscape 7 Composer.
  • MS Editor use this for any editor that understands < % and % > characters.
  • NS4 Editor use this for the Netscape 4.x Composer editor.

Now you might want to use the Wysiwyg Demo Page to try it out:

  1. Click Wysiwyg Demo Page.
  2. Start RADpage.
  3. Click on
  4. in RADpage,
  5. Select the editing mode.
  6. Press Save.
  7. Start the editor and open the file /home/radpage/docroot/heitml2.1/try/wysiwygdemo.hei.
  8. Edit the page.
  9. Save the file.

During editing with a WYSIWYG editor, components show up as small icons or are invisible, depending on the editor used. Anyway, components stay on the page and work again after putting the page back onto the server.
