Where to run RADpage

There are three ways to use RADpage. If you have your own Internet server connected to the Internet with a leased line or if you are using an intranet, just run RADpage directly on the server.

Otherwise you can run RADpage on the server of your Internet Service Provider. This is sometimes very convenient, since no file uploading is necessary. Especially when using a database everything is runs on the real database with the real data.

Alternatively you can run the RADpage on your local computer. Use it to develop your application and later upload the application to your Internet Service Provider's server.

RADpage Invocation

The easiest way to invoke RADpage is to use it on the demo site that was created during installation. In case of the online version of RADpage look at the information provided by your Internet provider, in case of the Developer version use the Edit menu.

The general way to start RADpage is to can call heitml.hei inside the root directory of the Web site to be edited, for example URL http://www.myhost.com/mywebsite/heitml.hei. Note that the component editor remembers the directory it was started in and uses the environment (database, include files, outline) of that directory.

To edit pages on another Web site you must restart RADpage on that Web site. Another incarnation of RADpage running in the same browser will automatically be terminated. Note that you can not run multiple incarnations of RADpage in a single Web browser.

You can run multiple incarnations of RADpage on a single Web server. Make sure, however, that the same Web site is not edited from multiple browsers. The current version of RADpage does not take provisions for shared updates.
