General

The generic version of heitml works with any supported database system and with Apache or any CGI-compliant Web server. It comes as a precompiled module and contains the database drivers as source code. This allows you to recompile the database drivers if new versions of a supported database system require this, or you can write and compile your own database driver to access other database systems.

The generic version can also be used to extend heitml by more built-in functions implemented in C. Therefore, the generic version contains a module in source code, which demonstrates how to write your own built-in functions.
